The Regional Maternal Newborn Orientation Program© (RMNOP) aims to ensure the uniform provision of safe, high-quality perinatal care. It serves as a guide for preceptors and clinical educators to support learners throughout the orientation process. Additionally, it acts as a refresher resource for seasoned nurses looking to update their perinatal knowledge. The program aligns with the Perinatal Nursing Standards of the Canadian Association of Perinatal and Women’s Health Nurses (CAPWHN) and the competencies outlined by the Canadian Nurses Association (CNA) for perinatal nurses. Completing the program also helps learners academically prepare for the Perinatal Nursing Certification Exam.
Core perinatal nursing competencies facilitate learners to develop the theoretical knowledge required to support nursing care for perinatal patients.
RMNOP Module 3: Postpartum Care and Module 4: Newborn Care each include 4 self-directed learning chapters which are based on current best-practice guidelines and standards.
The RMNOP© Modules are available online for learners to work through at their own pace. Participants have 40 days to complete the chapters. Once completed, learners will no longer be able to view or access the module. Please note, chapters cannot be printed due to copyright.
Please note, this is not an accredited course.
Registration is on a first come, first served basis. There are a limited number of seats per session, therefore you may be placed on a waiting list. If this does occur, please note you will be contacted via email once a seat becomes available.
